Aquamation for Pets

A Gentle, Eco-Friendly Aftercare Option

Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of life's most difficult moments. At Comfort @ Home Veterinary Care, we believe every family deserves compassionate care, not only during your pet's final moments, but afterward as well.

We are honored to offer Aquamation as a gentle, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional flame cremation.

What Is Aquamation?

Aquamation, also known as alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation, is a respectful aftercare process that uses warm water, gentle circulation, and naturally occurring alkaline solutions to return your pet's body to its natural elements.

This process mirrors what occurs naturally in the earth over time, but in a carefully controlled, dignified setting.

The result is a clean, white ash-like remains that are returned to your family in an urn, just as they would be after cremation.

Why Families Choose Aquamation

Many families find comfort in choosing Aquamation because it is:

  • A gentle and respectful process
  • Environmentally friendly with a significantly lower carbon footprint
  • Free from direct flames
  • A peaceful, natural way to honor a beloved companion
  • A beautiful option for families who value sustainability

What is Aquamation?

Imagine the Impact

Is Aquamation Different From Cremation?

Yes. Traditional cremation uses high temperatures and flame to reduce the body to ashes. Aquamation uses water instead of fire, producing the same type of remains that can be kept in an urn, scattered in a meaningful location (where permitted), or memorialized in another special way.

Both options are respectful ways to honor your pet. The choice simply comes down to what feels most meaningful for your family.

Will I Still Receive My Pet's Ashes?

Yes. After Aquamation is complete, your pet's remains are carefully processed into a soft, white powder and returned exclusively to your family.

The remains are typically lighter in color and slightly greater in volume than those from traditional cremation because the process is gentler on the bone.

Is Aquamation Safe?

Absolutely. Aquamation has been used for many years in both veterinary and human care. The process is carefully regulated, dignified, and environmentally responsible.

At Comfort @ Home Veterinary Care, we treat every pet with the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve. If you choose Aquamation, you can trust that your beloved companion will be transported with the utmost care throughout the aftercare process. We are honored to care for your family during this difficult time and are committed to providing peace of mind every step of the way.
