In-home veterinary hospice care

What is hospice care?

Veterinary hospice care provides medical care for dogs and cats proceeding through the stages of a terminal illness and provides support for their human caregivers. Rather than seeking a cure, hospice care focuses on maintaining an adequate quality of life.

When is hospice care needed?

A dog or cat needs hospice care when they have been diagnosed by their veterinarian with a terminal illness and are in the last weeks or days of their life. Some illnesses commonly treated with hospice care include cancer, kidney failure, severe arthritis, heart disease, and advanced gastrointestinal disease.

Components of hospice care

At Comfort @ Home, we tailor hospice treatment plans to best suit each individual patient and their human caretakers. We focus on pain control, infection prevention & treatment, mobility maintenance, appetite improvement, and depression & anxiety reduction.
